There is no better way to get into the Holiday Spirit then to volunteer your time to those less fortunate. The Plymouth Salvation Army has the following volunteer opportunities available. Enlist your grandchildren to work along side you so that they can truly appreciate the “Spirit of the Holidays”
Urgent Need** Thanksgiving Food
They are looking for a couple volunteers to come in on Monday, November 13 from 1-4pm to help set the gym up with tables, moving food from the pantry to the gym anda few other tasks to prepare for food box packing.
Bell Ringing Volunteers are needed Monday – Saturday from November 10 until December 23
They have 20 locations/doors to cover each day. Volunteers would need to commit to a minimum of 2 hours at any site between the hours of 10am-8pm. You can sign up online at ringbell.org
Christmas Application Assistance – December 5th-7th – 9:30 am to 1 pm and then 12:30 to 4 pm
Volunteers will assist our clients with filling out their Christmas application for assistance. Volunteers will verify the application is complete and assist with collecting gift suggestions for children. Volunteers need to be over 18.
Toy Shop Sorting – November 16th, 20th and 27th and December 6th, 8th and 11th – 10 am to noon and 2 to 4 pm
Volunteers are needed to pre-sort clothing and toy items that have been donated. Volunteers will need to be able to go up and down stairs carrying lightweight items,be at least 14 years of age or have a parent /guardian volunteering with them.
Toy Shop Set-Up – December 12th to 14th – 10 am to 4 pm
Volunteers will assist with sorting toys and games based on appropriateage group, sorting clothing based on gender and size, and sorting other donations that will be available for the family to select. Volunteers between the ages of 14-15 need to have parent/guardian volunteering with them.
Christmas Distribution – December 15th,18th and 19th – 9:30 am to 4:30 pm
Volunteers will help with registration, shoppers who take an active role in helping pick out gift items, signing out gift cards, organizing/restocking of clothing and toys and vehicle delivery (assist with getting the items to the clients’ vehicle). We are in need of about 35 volunteers at any given time. Volunteers need to be at least 18 years of age.
Christmas Clean-Up – December 19th and 20th
Volunteers will help pack up any leftover toy and gift items and move to our storage area for future use, fold up and store tables, move any leftover food items to pantry, help load shopping carts for their return to the local grocery store and sweep up gym floor.
